Hello!
I'm Emma Bonney, and I'm part of the steering group for the Lancashire parent carer forum. I've dedicated many years to enhancing the forum and collaborating with our partners in education, health, and social care.
Additionally, I serve on the committee for Blackpool Tiggers, a trampolining group designed for children with autism and their families. I coordinate their holiday program, which provides a fun day for autistic young people and their caregivers without the stress of meticulous planning.
As a mother of three children with various neurodiverse conditions, each with their unique paths, I've gained valuable insights. I've advocated for the recognition of their often unseen or misunderstood needs while navigating a challenging landscape involving education, health, social care, mainstream schools, and specialised provisions. I aim to share my experiences with our partners to ensure we utilise our available resources effectively, as I currently feel they are being mismanaged due to delayed or inappropriate support.
Recently, I've participated in the pins project (Partnerships for Inclusion of Neurodiversity in Schools), which aims to establish coffee mornings for parents, fostering a supportive environment where they can confidently discuss their concerns and challenges with the staff of their schools.
Role of the Treasurer
The treasurer in a parent carer forum (PCF) plays a vital role in managing the forums finances. They oversee budgets, financial statements, and ensure transparency in how funds are spent, particularly when the forum receives grants like those from the Department for Education. They also contribute to the overall financial health of the organisation
Gillian Rankin has had an active role in overseeing the grant and expenditure of LPCF in addition to secretarial support.
