About this event
Knowing that your child needs additional support is one thing. Understanding what that support should look like in practice, and what to do when it isn’t working, can be much harder.
Making Support Work is designed to help parent carers understand how children and young people with SEND should be supported within their education setting, including the Ordinarily Available Provision (OAP) that schools and settings are expected to provide.
We’ll look at what support might look like in practice, how needs should be identified and reviewed, and how approaches such as the Plan, Do, Review cycle can be used to understand whether support is making a difference.
We’ll also explore what you can do if you feel support isn’t happening, isn’t consistent or simply isn’t meeting your child’s needs, including who to speak to and what your next steps could be.
