Family Hub Drop-ins

What is a family
hub drop-in?

Copy of Untitled.png

Our Family Hub drop-ins are informal, friendly spaces where you can talk to us face-to-face about your experiences of SEND in Lancashire. We currently host eight regular drop-ins at Family Hubs across the county, with plans to reach even more communities over the next 12–18 months.

They’re designed to provide a safe, welcoming space for parent carers to share their worries and concerns, ask questions and connect with others who understand. We’re often joined by professionals from local SEND services too, giving you the opportunity to get information and answers directly from the people involved.

Our Team.

These are just some of the friendly faces from the Forum you can expect to see at our drop-ins! You’ll also be joined by Family Hub Navigators and professionals from Lancashire County Council and other local services.

Who’s there can vary by location, so check the venue links below to find out who you can expect to meet and what support is available at each drop-in.

FAQ's

Do I need to book?

No. There’s no need to book an appointment, just come along at any point during the session.

Do I have to arrive at the start?

Not at all. You can arrive at any point during the session and you won’t be interrupting anything.

Will I have to speak in front of everyone?

No. There’s absolutely no pressure to speak in front of a group or share anything you don’t feel comfortable discussing.

Can I come without my child?

Yes. You’re very welcome to come on your own. If you’d feel more comfortable bringing a partner, friend or someone else for support, that’s absolutely fine too.

Do I need a diagnosis or EHCP?

No. You can come along wherever you are in your SEND journey, whether you have early concerns, are waiting for an assessment or diagnosis, or already have support in place.

How long do I need to stay?

As long as you like. You can pop in for five minutes and a quick chat or stay for the whole session.

Is it confidential?

Yes. We want our drop-ins to feel like a safe space. You don’t need to disclose anything publicly and can speak to us privately if you prefer.

What if I’m nervous?

That’s completely understandable – and you won’t be the only one! You can arrive quietly, stay for as little time as you like and there’s no pressure to speak. Someone will be there to welcome you when you arrive.

What happens when I arrive?

Just come in and one of our friendly team will welcome you. Our drop-ins are relaxed and informal, there’s usually a cuppa waiting too!

What can I talk about?

Anything relating to your experience of SEND. You might have questions about school, services or support, need help finding the right information, want to share a concern, or simply need someone who understands to listen.

Who will be there?

You’ll meet members of the Lancashire Parent Carer Forum team and Family Hub staff. We’re also often joined by professionals from local SEND services. Check your local venue page to see who is expected at your session.
