Becoming a Volunteer
We have established a small group of enthusiastic volunteers to help with the running of the forums work. We have developed a volunteering induction and training pathway and are going to need lots of help moving forwards with exciting projects involving the forum.
Volunteering is open to all parent carers of a child or young person who is living with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND), whether diagnosed or not from 0-25 years and who live in, or receive services from the county of Lancashire.
Being on our team of Volunteers involves getting involved in the work of the forum, sharing your experiences and helping to influence improved services in our community.
It's about collaborating and coproducing with our local authority and other services and organisations to ensure services are effective and meet the needs of families.
Roles for Volunteers
Almost everything we do is currently voluntary and done by a very small group of dedicated parent carers. A lot of hard work is going on in the background to transform LPCF but we can’t do this alone!
We need lots of help to ensure we can effectively communicate the work we are doing, signpost you to support networks and to share your voice, experience and knowledge at relevant meetings with senior managers. This includes directors responsible for services in education, health and social care. This will ultimately allow you to directly highlight the challenges families are facing and help pave the way for better quality, easier and fairer access to provision
There are a number of ways you could volunteer with LPCF from minimal and ad hoc commitments and to more routine formal roles.
Volunteer Roles
The Forum has 3 key areas of work - capturing parent/carer VOICE, ensuring we REACH as many parents & carers as we can and finally making sure understand the IMPACT we make on services.
As a result we have 3 areas of work where we need Volunteers to help us.

Even if you can only spare small amounts of time or infrequently you can still play a valuable role.
